Video shows horrifying moment woman, 25, plunges 65 feet to her death from top of waterfall

A 119-Person Rescue Mission Ended in Tragedy After Young Woman Fell More Than 65 Feet From a Waterfall

What began as a desperate search for a missing woman ended in heartbreak after rescuers discovered the body of 25-year-old Windy Rahma Putri beneath a waterfall in Indonesia.

Windy had been visiting Robo Waterfall in West Sumatra on Thursday when the accident occurred. Footage shared online appears to show her standing on slippery rocks after bathing. As she tries to get back up, she seems to lose her footing and slides toward the edge.

In the final moments captured on video, Windy reaches toward another person nearby, apparently trying to grab hold. But she cannot secure a grip and falls more than 65 feet over the waterfall.

“The victim was reported to have slipped and was suspected of drowning and being swept away,” said Abdul Malik, head of the Padang search and rescue office, according to Newsflash.

The search and recovery operation

Rescue teams searched through the day but initially failed to locate her. On Friday morning, her body was found in the ravine below the falls.

The steep terrain made recovery extremely difficult, forcing rescuers to use a specialized rope system. A total of 119 people—including police, firefighters, military personnel, disaster officials and local residents—participated in the operation.

Windy’s body was eventually recovered and returned to her family, bringing a tragic end to the search.
