Steve Martin May Be Ready to Say Goodbye
For decades, Steve Martin has been one of the most recognizable names in American entertainment. He became a household name after joining Saturday Night Live, but his success soon expanded to major films such as Father of the Bride, Cheaper by the Dozen, and The Pink Panther.
Even as the years passed, Martin’s popularity never disappeared. His career experienced another major chapter when he starred in Only Murders in the Building alongside longtime friend Martin Short and Selena Gomez. Away from acting, he also experienced a personal milestone, marrying Anne Stringfield in 2007 and becoming a father to their daughter in 2012.
But now, Martin appears to be preparing for something very different: retirement.
Speaking about his future, the actor explained that once Only Murders in the Building ends, he does not plan to search for other movies, television projects, or even cameos. “This is, weirdly, it,” he revealed.
Martin has also said he is comfortable with his character Charles not having a dramatic transformation. At this point in life, he believes there may simply be more mistakes than lessons left to learn.
With an extraordinary career behind him, including 19 SNL guest appearances and 15 hosting duties, Martin may finally be ready to step away. If he does, audiences will certainly miss one of comedy’s most unforgettable stars.
