A young man shared his heartbreaking story on Reddit about how his relationship with his mother soured after his father’s passing. Just two months after his dad died, his mom swiftly moved in her new partner and his children, leaving him feeling neglected at just 15 years old.
Despite his grandparents’ advice to avoid confrontation, tensions escalated, and his mom eventually asked him to leave the house. Heartbroken but compliant, he moved out, holding onto the hope that his dad had left everything, including the house, to him, but he couldn’t access the assets until he turned 21.
As his 21st birthday approached, he hatched a plan for payback. With his college degree in hand, he decided to renovate and rent out the house his father had left him—the same house his mother and her new family occupied. When his mom and her partner were away, he changed the locks, cutting off their access to the property.
Upon their return, his mother was furious, pleading to stay because the man’s daughter was pregnant and had nowhere else to go. Despite her pleas, he gave them a two-week ultimatum to vacate the premises.
The Reddit community rallied around him, empathizing with his plight and condemning his mother’s actions. Many speculated that his father had left him everything because he foresaw his wife’s behavior. Social media users criticized his mother for prioritizing her new relationship over her son, questioning her parental priorities.
Following his post, his mother pleaded to talk to him again, but he didn’t provide any updates on their relationship.
