Len Goodman, a former judge on the hit television show “Dancing With the Stars,” has passed away at the age of 78 after a battle with bone cancer.
The English dancing pro had competed in the ballroom competition from 2005 until last year. His manager, Jackie Gill, stated that he was surrounded by his family in a hospice in Kent, southern England.
Goodman was born in London in 1944 and began dancing at the age of 19. He was a professional dancer before making the transition to television.
He served as head judge of the BBC dancing competition “Strictly Come Dancing” since its start in 2004, but made his farewell appearance on the 2016 Christmas Day special. Shirley Ballas took over the position after he left.
