Cameron Diaz, the iconic romcom queen and former Hollywood A-lister, has revealed that stepping away from the limelight has brought a profound sense of fulfillment. Diaz, who captured hearts in the classic movie “The Mask” at just 21, transitioned from modeling to acting seamlessly, earning accolades for her roles in romantic comedies and acclaimed films like “Being John Malkovich” and “Any Given Sunday.”
At the pinnacle of her career, marked by awards, Walk of Fame star, and widespread acclaim, Diaz made a surprising decision to exit Hollywood. In a recent interview with Kevin Hart on ‘Hart to Heart,’ she explained that managing her life on her terms, away from the constant spotlight, was a driving force behind her departure.
“When you do something at a really high level for a really long period of time, there’s a lot that — when you’re the person who’s sort of delivering on this one thing. You’re the person on the screen, you’re the person who’s ‘the talent’ — everything around you, all parts of you that isn’t that, has to be handed off to other people,” Diaz shared.
Now focused on her organic wine brand, Avaline, alongside business partner Katherine Power, Diaz has found a new rhythm in her life. However, the most significant role she embraces is that of being a mother. Welcoming her daughter Raddix with husband Benji Madden in December 2019, Diaz, at 49, emphasized that motherhood is the best thing that ever happened to her, bringing profound joy and a sense of fulfillment.
Her decision to become a mother after 40 also provided hope to women who had given up on the idea of getting pregnant. Diaz and Madden, described as the perfect parenting team by friends, cherish their role as parents. Diaz expressed that having Raddix exceeded all her expectations.
Reflecting on her relationship with Madden, introduced by Nicole Richie (married to Benji’s twin brother), Diaz shared her initial thoughts, saying, “I saw him walking towards me and I was like, ‘Huh, he’s hot. I haven’t seen him before. Oh, you, you, you’re special. You’re the guy. You’re the hidden gem in my life.’”
While fans may miss Diaz’s presence in new projects, her current state of happiness and fulfillment stands as a testament to her commitment to living life on her terms.
