The call came in as an emergency. A woman was unresponsive inside a quiet South Carolina home, and within minutes, paramedics were fighting to save her life.
That woman was Hayden Panettiere, the beloved Heroes and Nashville actress who died Sunday at just 36 years old.
According to newly obtained 911 dispatch audio, emergency crews were called to a Greenville residence shortly before 2 p.m. after a report of a woman in cardiac arrest. CPR was already underway, and responders continued lifesaving efforts after arriving. Panettiere was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
But one detail from the emergency information has raised new questions. Reports have suggested that a possible overdose may have been involved. However, authorities have not confirmed an overdose as the cause of death, and the official cause remains pending.
Police say their preliminary investigation has found no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. A friend was reportedly the person who made the 911 call.
