Keanu Reeves, the 59-year-old beloved actor known for his roles in action-packed films like The Matrix and the John Wick series, recently shared a surprising and unfortunate incident. During an appearance on Stephen Colbert’s show, Keanu revealed that he had broken his kneecap while filming, not during a daring stunt, but in a rather ordinary situation.
Colbert, curious about the injury, asked Keanu, “What happened? Who got to you?” Keanu, with his characteristic humor, responded in a tough guy voice, “No one got to me. Accident got to me.” Colbert continued to probe, imagining some dramatic scenario involving stunts.
“Were you jumping from building to building? Were you doing a cartwheel past razor blades? What were you doing?” Keanu laughed and explained, “No, Stephen, I was walking into the dressing room, a room. I will tell it quick.”
Keanu recounted that the incident occurred while he was filming a scene for an upcoming comedy titled Good Fortune, starring alongside Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogen. The scene involved the three actors in a cold plunge. After finishing, Keanu started doing the “cold shuffle” in a room with protective carpets. Unfortunately, his foot got caught in a pocket as he was walking.
Demonstrating the mishap, Keanu stood up and showed how his knee gave way, causing him to fall hard. “And I spiked. Like, spiked,” he said, mimicking the fall. “Just drove it into the ground. My patella, kneecap, cracked like a potato chip. But I didn’t know that. But then once my knee was blowing up,” he continued. “Comedy is hard, man,” he added jokingly.
Colbert clarified, “This was not an action film with Aziz and Rogen,” to which Keanu confirmed, “No, it was comedy.” The exchange ended with Stephen humorously welcoming Keanu to the world of comedy.
Earlier this year, Keanu was seen filming on crutches with an ice pack on his knee, confirming the seriousness of the injury. Good Fortune is not only a project starring Aziz Ansari but also marks his directorial debut. The film also features Sandra Oh and Keke Palmer, adding to the anticipation surrounding its release.
Keanu Reeves, known for his resilience and positive attitude, continues to be a source of inspiration for many. Despite the injury, his dedication to his craft and his ability to find humor in difficult situations remain unwavering. As fans, we send our best wishes for his speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back in action soon.
