One Sunday morning, a married couple is getting ready to go to church.
They have just finished their breakfast when the wife notices that her husband is not dressed for church. She is surprised and asks him, “Why aren’t you dressed for church?”
The husband replies simply, “Because I’m not going.”
The wife, curious about his sudden decision, asks, “Why not?”
The husband then gives her three reasons. First, he says, “The church is too cold in the morning.”
Second, he complains, “I feel unwelcome there because people gossip about me.” Third, he admits, “I just don’t feel like going.”
The wife, not convinced by his reasons, decides to give him three reasons why he should go to church. She starts with, “First, the church is warm inside.”
Next, she counters, “Second, there are people there who like you.” Finally, she delivers the most important reason, “And third, you’re the minister.”
