After more than 40 years together on Wheel of Fortune, Vanna White is saying goodbye to her co-host, Pat Sajak. The emotional farewell comes as Sajak, now 77, prepares to host his final episode on Friday, June 7. Ahead of his departure, White, 67, shared a heartfelt speech honoring Sajak’s incredible career and their enduring friendship.
“It’s hard to believe that tomorrow is our last show together,” White began. “I don’t even know how to put into words what these past 40 years have meant to me, but I’ll try.” Reflecting on their time together, she mentioned the staggering number of episodes they have worked on—8,000—and shared her gratitude for how Sajak made her feel comfortable and confident when she first started. “You made me who I am,” she told him, acknowledging the vital role he played in her career.
Although they’ve had plenty of fun on-camera, White said the moments off-camera were the most special to her. “The memories, milestones, and life events we’ve shared with our families outside the studio are my favorite,” she said, growing emotional.
Through tears, White recalled how they had watched their children grow up, traveled the world, shared countless meals, and experienced both laughter and tears together. “What an incredible and unforgettable journey we’ve had,” she added.
As her message came to a close, White expressed her deep affection and admiration for Sajak. “I’ve enjoyed every minute knowing you,” she said. “As this chapter of our lives ends, I know you’ll still be close by. You’re like a brother to me, and I consider you a true lifelong friend. I love you, Pat.”
The touching moment ended with the two standing side by side on the Wheel of Fortune stage. They hugged as the audience applauded, and Sajak could only respond with a quiet, “Oh my.”
Sajak first announced his retirement in June 2023, saying the show’s 41st season would be his last. “It’s been a wonderful ride,” he wrote, thanking fans for their support over the decades.
