Former President Donald Trump, who was once thought to be unpopular in certain areas of the country, is now gaining more support even in those regions. One example of this is his recent fundraising event in San Francisco, which is in the district represented by former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Trump managed to raise almost $12 million at this event, which took place last week.
The fundraiser was held at the Pacific Heights home of David Sacks and Chamath Palihapitiya, both of whom are well-known in the tech industry. Sacks and Palihapitiya also co-host a popular podcast called “All-In.” The cost to attend the fundraiser ranged from $50,000 to $500,000, depending on the level of perks offered to the guests. Many important figures from the cryptocurrency world and venture capitalists were present at the event.
During the fundraiser, Harmeet Dhillon, a member of the Republican National Committee, observed that Trump appeared to be in good spirits. She mentioned that he was “relaxed, happy, and cracking jokes about AI.” This suggests that Trump was at ease and enjoyed interacting with the attendees.
David Sacks, one of the hosts, shared more about his decision to support Trump. He explained that the idea for the fundraiser came about because of JD Vance, a U.S. Senator, who encouraged Sacks to host the event. Sacks mentioned that without Vance’s suggestion, the event might not have happened.
Sacks also publicly announced his endorsement of Trump in a post on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). In his post, Sacks explained why he was backing Trump to be president again. He had previously supported other presidential candidates, like Ron DeSantis, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr., but chose to endorse Trump this time.
Sacks believes that Trump is the right person to address four critical issues that are important for the prosperity, security, and stability of the United States. He feels that the current administration under President Biden has not handled these issues well, and he trusts Trump to lead the country in the right direction.
