Naomi Pomeroy, a well-known chef from the TV show “Top Chef,” has passed away at the age of 49. Her body was found in a river on July 17, a few days after she was reported missing. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that she drowned.
The investigation revealed that Pomeroy, her husband Kyle Linden Webster, and a friend were together on tubes and a paddleboard that were tied to each other. The Corvallis Fire Department managed to rescue the other two adults and brought them safely to shore. Unfortunately, they could not save Pomeroy initially.
Sheriff Van Arsdall expressed his commitment to finding Naomi and bringing her back to her family. He thanked everyone involved in the search and recovery efforts during this tough time. Pomeroy’s body was eventually found by a group of people in canoes. Officials said she couldn’t free herself because of the paddleboard leash.
Naomi Pomeroy was a significant figure in the culinary world, especially in Oregon. She first gained attention in Portland by opening her restaurant, Beast, in 2007.
Just two years later, she was named one of Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs. In 2013, she and her husband opened a cocktail bar in Portland called Expatriate. The following year, she won a James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Northwest and Pacific region.
Pomeroy also made appearances on cooking shows like “Iron Chef” and “Top Chef Masters.” She served as a guest judge on “Top Chef” during seasons 10, 15, and 18.
After her death, Bravo and the “Top Chef” team released a statement expressing their sorrow. They offered their heartfelt condolences to Naomi Pomeroy’s family and friends. They described her as a powerful chef who made a lasting impact on the culinary industry.
