The Comedian Is ‘Done With Fame’ After Being Canceled

Ellen DeGeneres, the famous comedian and talk show host, recently shared that she is “done with fame” after facing significant controversies and backlash. Despite the allegations not directly accusing her of toxic behavior, the problems were tied to her show’s working environment, which operates under her name and brand of kindness. Following these allegations, three senior producers were removed from the Warner Bros. distributed syndicated show.

Ellen addressed the situation on-air, expressing regret and taking responsibility. She stated, “I learned that things happened here that should never have happened. I know that I’m in a position of privilege and power, and I realize that with that comes responsibility, and I take responsibility for what happens at my show.”

In a 2021 interview with Savannah Guthrie on “Today,” Ellen described the negative press as feeling “orchestrated” and “misogynistic.” She mentioned that guests always praised the show’s happy atmosphere. Despite her efforts to clear her name, Ellen decided to end her talk show in 2022 after nearly 20 years, saying she needed new challenges.

After stepping back from the limelight for a while, Ellen recently returned with “Ellen’s Last Stand… Up Tour” and is set to release a comedy special on Netflix. She has revealed that the special will address the controversies, answering the questions everyone has been asking. During her tour, she joked about the ordeal, saying it was devastating and that she hated the way her show ended. She loved the show deeply and was upset that it concluded under such negative circumstances.

In a Q&A session following one of her stand-up shows, a fan asked Ellen if she would consider doing new films or theater work. She responded, “Um, no. This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”

Ellen’s decision to step away from fame marks the end of an era for the comedian who brought laughter and joy to millions through her show.

Despite the controversies, many fans continue to support her, remembering the positive impact she had over the years. Her upcoming Netflix special will likely offer insights and reflections on her experiences, providing closure to her long and influential career in entertainment.
