A teacher engages little Johnny with a basic math problem, sparking an amusing exchange that had the storyteller, Monica P, in stitches. Teachers, throughout their careers, encounter a spectrum of students – some requiring extra attention, some impressing with bright answers, and then there are those naturally witty students who contribute to the fun of the lesson.
The teacher initiates the mathematical dialogue, asking Johnny, “If I gave you two cats and another two cats and then another two, how many would you have?” Johnny’s unexpected response of “seven” sets the tone for the comedic interaction. Undeterred, the teacher attempts clarification, repeating the scenario with apples. Johnny’s response, this time a correct “six,” momentarily reassures the teacher.
Johnny confidently asserts, “Seven!” prompting the teacher’s bewilderment. A humorous back-and-forth unfolds as the teacher, rubbing her temples, persists in seeking the correct answer. Johnny’s unyielding “seven” remains consistent, leading to the punchline.
The teacher, somewhat exasperated, questions, “Johnny, where in the heck do you get seven from?!?” Johnny delivers the punchline, “Because I’ve already got a freaking cat!” The unexpected twist in the narrative brings the story full circle, showcasing Johnny’s clever wit.
