Mr. Morgan, a new history teacher, encounters Archie, a troubled student facing numerous challenges in his life. Despite Archie’s tardiness, incomplete assignments, and family problems, Mr. Morgan refuses to give up on him.
During Archie’s first day in Mr. Morgan’s class, he arrives late and disheveled. Mr. Morgan confronts him about his tardiness and incomplete homework. Concerned about Archie’s well-being, Mr. Morgan insists on meeting his family to discuss his academic performance.
The next day, Archie is absent, raising Mr. Morgan’s worries. Archie’s grandmother, Mrs. Parker, visits the school, revealing Archie’s difficult family circumstances. His mother is struggling with addiction and debt, and Archie works at an illegal factory to help support his family.
Despite facing expulsion from school, Mr. Morgan refuses to give up on Archie. He visits Archie’s home and discovers the challenging environment Archie lives in. Determined to help, Mr. Morgan supports Archie academically and emotionally, even preparing meals for his family to help Archie focus on his studies.
With Mr. Morgan’s support, Archie’s academic performance improves. However, Child Protection Services intervenes due to Archie’s family situation, leading to their temporary placement in a group home. Archie pleads for help from Mr. Morgan and his grandmother, but they are unable to prevent the intervention.
Eventually, Archie and Mr. Morgan reunite, reflecting on their journey together. Mr. Morgan reveals his decision to contact Child Protection Services out of concern for Archie’s well-being. Despite the challenges, Archie acknowledges Mr. Morgan’s support and the importance of making difficult choices for a better future.
