Student Says He’s Too Smart For First Grade. This Is The Principal’s Response.

Once upon a time in an elementary school, a first-grade teacher found herself facing a unique challenge. Johnny, one of her young students, had a claim that piqued her curiosity. He boldly declared, “I’m too smart for the first grade, and I’m even smarter than my sister, who’s in the third grade.”

Perplexed, the teacher decided to involve the school’s principal. She brought Johnny to the principal’s office, explaining the situation. The principal, intrigued by Johnny’s confidence, proposed a test. He stipulated that if Johnny failed to answer just one question correctly, he would have to return to the first grade and maintain a quieter disposition.

Both the teacher and Johnny accepted the challenge, and the test commenced:

Principal: “What is 3 x 3?”
Johnny: “9”
Principal: “6 x 6”
Johnny: “36”

The principal continued to fire questions at Johnny, covering the knowledge expected of a third-grader. Astonishingly, Johnny answered every question without hesitation. After about an hour, the principal, impressed, declared, “I see no reason why Johnny can’t proceed to the third grade. He answered all of my questions correctly.”

Intrigued by Johnny’s prowess, the teacher requested permission to pose her own questions. Both the principal and Johnny consented:

Teacher: “What does a cow have four of that I only have two of?”
Johnny: “Legs”
Teacher: “What do you have in your pants that I don’t have?”

Before the principal could react, Johnny confidently replied, “Pockets.”

Teacher: “What does a dog do that a man steps into?”
Johnny: “Pants”

Teacher: “What starts with F and ends with K and means a lot of excitement?”
Johnny: “Firetruck”

With a sigh of relief, the principal realized that he had failed to answer the last four questions correctly himself. Acknowledging Johnny’s remarkable intellect, he decided, to “Put Johnny in the fifth grade.”

In this tale of unexpected wit and intelligence, Johnny’s unconventional wisdom earned him a promotion to a grade well beyond his years, leaving everyone in awe of his cleverness.
