After three decades of marriage and a divorce in 2020, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin is opening up about the challenges and changes in her life. In a recent interview with The New York Post, Palin, 58, described her divorce from Todd Palin as “earth-shattering,” expressing the unexpected nature of the event.
Palin revealed that she learned about Todd filing for divorce through an email from his attorney, describing it as a bizarre and shocking experience. The couple shares five children, but despite the tumultuous divorce, they seem to have moved on with their lives. Palin shared with the Post that Todd now spends his time with his girlfriend.
On the other hand, Palin has found solace and companionship in her new relationship with retired New York Rangers player Ron Duguay, 64. The friendship between Palin and Duguay deepened when he sought her guidance during her defamation battle against The New York Times. Although the lawsuit was eventually dropped, their connection grew stronger, and Duguay played the role of a tour guide for Palin in New York during the trial.
Describing her relationship with Duguay as “safe and comfortable,” Palin stated that he is the first person she has talked to about many personal matters. She emphasized the value of having someone to discuss things other than politics with, highlighting Duguay’s common sense.
Duguay, a vocal supporter of Palin, has also backed her in her recent congressional campaign. Palin announced her candidacy for the U.S. House seat representing Alaska, aiming to fill the void left by the late Rep. Don Young, who passed away in March. Endorsed by former President Donald Trump, Palin sees public service as a calling and expresses her dedication to representing Alaskans in Congress, honoring Young’s legacy and sharing his passion for Alaska and the United States.
Palin’s life has taken unexpected turns, marked by a challenging divorce, a new romantic relationship, and a foray into politics, showcasing her resilience and determination to move forward despite personal hardships.
