Netflix’s new series Supersex has caused strong reactions among viewers, with many expressing shock and discomfort over its highly explicit content.
Some people even said they felt “sickened” by the graphic scenes and threatened to cancel their Netflix subscriptions.
The seven-episode series is based on the life of Rocco Siffredi, a famous Italian adult film star who has appeared in over 1,300 films. He is portrayed by Italian actor Alessandro Borghi.
Supersex follows Rocco’s journey from an ordinary young man in Ortona, a town in central Italy, to becoming one of the most well-known figures in the adult film industry. The show explores not only his career but also his personal struggles and past.
One of the most controversial moments in the series occurs during the funeral of Rocco’s mother. In this scene, he engages in a sexual act with one of his mother’s friends, which many viewers found deeply disturbing.
Reactions to this moment flooded social media, with one person writing, “I watched Supersex, and it was compelling and interesting—until midway through episode six. It was appalling, disrespectful, and uncalled for. I’m talking about the cemetery scene. Before this episode, I would have given it a thumbs up. So messed up.”
Another viewer commented, “Yes, I know, complaining about too many sex scenes in Supersex is like complaining about too many car races in Fast & Furious. But also, a few less, eh.” Many people agreed that while they expected explicit content from a show about an adult film star, they felt the series took things too far.
The lead actor, Alessandro Borghi, spoke about the challenges of making the series, calling it “absolutely the most complicated thing I’ve ever made in my life.” He revealed that he filmed 50 sex scenes in just 95 days, which made the production physically and emotionally demanding.
Rocco Siffredi himself addressed the controversy and admitted that the series would shock audiences. He explained that Supersex was not just about his career but also about his personal journey and the experiences that shaped him. “I never, ever like to tell you just one part of me.
I always say everything,” he said. “You either like it, or you don’t. This is who I am.” He added that most people only know him from his on-camera work, but the series shows a different side of his life, including his childhood and personal struggles.
Netflix has rated Supersex for adults only, restricting it to viewers aged 18 and over. However, this hasn’t stopped people from criticizing the show, calling it “inappropriate” and “crossing the line.
Some believe that Netflix is pushing boundaries too far, comparing Supersex to other controversial productions like 365 Days and Money Shot: The Pornhub Story.
Despite the backlash, the series has gained attention worldwide, sparking debates about the limits of mainstream entertainment and how much explicit content is.
