Ellen and her husband, David, were thrilled about their daughter Lisa’s upcoming wedding to Ric. Lisa, a hardworking doctor, deserved a home, so Ellen and David bought her one.
Lisa wanted Ric to move in, and Ellen and David agreed. They planned a family dinner to meet Ric’s parents, but things took a bad turn. After arriving at Lisa’s house, David and Leah, their younger daughter, rushed home without explanation.
David later revealed he overheard Ric’s parents planning to exclude them from the wedding and make them pay for it.
Shocked, Ellen confronted Ric’s mother, who declared they’d be living with Lisa and Ric and wouldn’t be invited to the wedding.
Ellen, owning the house, gave them 10 days to leave. When they refused, Ellen and David sold the house, teaching them about boundaries. Lisa moved into a tiny apartment, and Ric’s parents disappeared. Lisa and Ric stayed together but postponed the wedding.
Ellen wondered if she was wrong for selling the house and using the money to buy her other daughter a car.
