On November 7, Megan Fox unveiled her latest literary creation, a book of poetry entitled “Pretty Boys Are Poisonous.” A discerning audience quickly recognized a deeply personal revelation within one of the verses—an intimate exploration of the miscarriage that Fox, currently engaged to Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), endured. The poems unfolded a poignant narrative, suggesting that Fox and MGK faced the loss when the pregnancy was just over two months along, as evidenced by the line, “There is an ultrasound by your side of the bed. 10 weeks and 1 day.”
Another verse delicately addressed the painful process of bidding farewell to their unborn child, with Fox expressing the poignant sentiment, “I close my eyes and imagine…Holding you tight against my chest. […] I will pay any price, tell me please what is the ransom for her soul?” These verses provided an unguarded glimpse into the couple’s shared grief.
Fox openly confirmed the miscarriage during an interview with Good Morning America, acknowledging the profound impact it had on both her and MGK. Reflecting on the difficulty of the experience, she shared, “I’ve never been through anything like that in my life. I have three kids, so it was very difficult for both of us and it sent us on a very wild journey together and separately…trying to navigate, ‘What does this mean?’ and ‘Why did this happen?’”
As a mother of three—Noah, 10, Bodhi, 9, and Journey, 7—from her previous marriage to Brian Austin Green, Fox’s journey into motherhood has been marked by both joy and heartache. Beyond the theme of pregnancy loss, her poetry delves into other challenging aspects of her life, shedding light on instances of physical and emotional abuse in past relationships. Describing the aftermath, she writes, “Mornings after you would hurt me / I would wake up and make your coffee / Put on a sweatshirt so you wouldn’t have to look at the bruises you left.”
These verses, as Fox revealed to Rolling Stone, served as an attempt to “excise the illness that had taken root in me because of my silence.” In sharing her poetry, Megan Fox not only unveils the pain of loss but also confronts and expresses the resilience that emerges from acknowledging and articulating one’s profound experiences.
