Little Mary Margaret, a less-than-enthusiastic student in Catholic School, had a habit of dozing off during class. One day, the teacher, a Nun, decided to test her knowledge despite her drowsiness.
When asked, “Who created the universe?” Mary remained unresponsive until her friend Johnny playfully jabbed her with a pencil, prompting her to exclaim, “God Almighty!” The Nun, surprisingly pleased, continued with the lesson.
Later, the teacher inquired about the identity of our Lord and Savior. Once again, Mary Margaret slept through the question, and Johnny intervened with another pencil poke. This time, Mary woke up to declare, “Jesus Christ!” earning her another nod of approval from the amused Nun.
Undeterred, the Nun posed a third, more peculiar question: “What did Eve say to Adam after she had her twenty-third child?” In this instance, Johnny’s intervention took a different turn.
Mary, abruptly awakened, threatened, “If you stick that damn thing in me one more time, I’ll break it in half!” The response left the Nun in shock, causing her to faint.
This unexpected twist in Mary Margaret’s answers turned the mundane classroom into a source of entertainment for both students and teacher alike.
The humor derived from her sleepy yet surprisingly accurate responses added a touch of levity to the religious instruction. It’s a tale that reminds us that sometimes, even in the most unexpected circumstances, humor can emerge, making the monotony of school days a bit more bearable.
