Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s relationship was very turbulent. They met on the set of “The Rum Diary” in 2011 and started dating after Depp broke up with Vanessa Paradis, his long-term partner. Depp and Heard got engaged in 2014 and married in 2015.
However, their marriage quickly turned problematic. Depp injured his hand during a heated argument where he reportedly smashed bottles and windows. Not long after, Heard filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
In an op-ed for The Washington Post, Heard implied she was a victim of domestic abuse, although she did not mention Depp by name. This article garnered significant support for Heard but negatively impacted Depp’s career. He lost roles, including his iconic part as Captain Jack Sparrow, and faced harsh criticism for his role in “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.”
Depp then filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Heard, claiming he was the victim of domestic abuse. He alleged that Heard had hit, punched, and kicked him, and even thrown objects like heavy bottles and soda cans at him, causing severe injuries. Depp won the case, though it cost him a lot of money and time away from work.
Despite the challenges, Depp made a comeback. He starred in the film “Jeanne Du Barry” as King Louis XV, marking his first film project since the trial. At the Cannes 2023 opening night screening, he received a seven-minute standing ovation. Fans cheered for him, and one woman even cried to get his attention as he walked the red carpet.
Recently, Depp shared on Instagram that he had suffered a fractured ankle. What started as a minor hairline break worsened during his travels from Cannes to The Albert Hall. Doctors advised him to avoid all activities to let the injury heal.
He apologized to fans in Boston, New Hampshire, and New York for not being able to visit and promised a great show in Europe and later in the East Coast. Fans were concerned but sent their best wishes, encouraging him to take care of himself.
After everything Depp has endured, he is now looking forward to better times, hoping to live his life to the fullest.
