A shocking video circulating online has reminded everyone of the importance of always securing children in a car.
The footage shows two young children walking in the middle of a busy Texas highway after they were thrown from a car during a terrible accident. This incident took place on Sunday, August 11, on Interstate 10 in Freeport, Texas.
According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the crash involved two cars, and one of them flipped multiple times during the accident. The force of the rollover ejected both an adult and two children from the vehicle.
The children, who appeared disoriented, were seen walking alone on the highway shortly after the crash. Thankfully, two men quickly ran to the children’s aid and led them to safety, as shown in the video.
The video, which was first shared on Facebook, showed the terrifying aftermath of the crash. The person who originally posted the footage mentioned that the children were scraped up but were standing on their own, which seemed to be a good sign.
Despite the fact that they were walking, the children were soon taken to a nearby hospital and were reported to be in critical but stable condition. Authorities did not release further details about the adult who was also ejected from the vehicle.
The accident sparked an investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, which is still ongoing. It is not yet known whether the children were properly secured in car seats or wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. However, the Sheriff’s Office indicated that charges might be brought against the driver responsible for the accident.
Fortunately, the people in the other vehicle involved in the crash were not injured. While the incident remains under investigation, the video serves as a chilling reminder of how quickly things can go wrong on the road, and how important it is to ensure that children are securely strapped in at all times.
Many people who saw the video expressed their hope for the children’s recovery. One person wrote, “These infants have someone keeping an eye on them. I hope and pray that they will fully recover.” Others joined in sending prayers and well-wishes, hoping for the children to heal from the traumatic event.
