I Refused to Give My Ex-wife Money for Food for Her and Our Kids as I Discovered Her True Intentions

A man posted his story on Reddit’s “AITA” forum, talking about a tricky situation with his ex-wife. Even after they divorced and remarried, they shared custody of their 15 and 12-year-old kids. When his ex-wife ran into money problems after her new husband left, she asked him for help with buying groceries.

At first, he thought about it. Then he decided to offer her a lot of food from his freezer and pantry. He had elk, venison, wild hog, and other meats. But instead of taking the food, she wanted money for takeout. He said no, telling her he had given her enough food already.

She got upset and said he expected thanks for what she saw as just leftovers. Even though he stuck to his decision, people online started arguing about it. Some said he should’ve given her money, but most said he did the right thing, calling him “NTA” (Not The A**hole). They liked how he offered food instead of cash, saying it’s like buying food for a homeless person instead of giving money.

In my view, the man did the right thing by not giving his ex-wife money. He was kind by offering her lots of food to help her out, especially since he’s responsible for their kids when they’re with him. If I were him, I’d probably do the same, helping practically instead of giving cash.
