Former US President Bill Clinton Discharged from Hospital

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has been released from the hospital after being treated for the flu.

The news was shared by his spokesperson, Angel Ureña, on Tuesday. Ureña thanked the medical team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital for their excellent care and expressed the Clinton family’s gratitude for the many kind messages they received during this time. The update was shared on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter.

Clinton, who is 78 years old, was admitted to Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., on Monday night. He had developed a fever and needed tests and observation.

This is not the first time Clinton has faced health challenges. In 2021, he was hospitalized in California for six days after an infection spread to his bloodstream.

Throughout his life, Clinton has dealt with several serious health issues, especially related to his heart. In 2004, when he was 58 years old, he underwent a quadruple bypass surgery after doctors found signs of severe heart disease.

Ten years later, he had another procedure to open a clogged artery after experiencing chest pains. These experiences led to significant changes in his lifestyle.

After his second surgery, Clinton decided to adopt a vegan diet. Known for his love of rich and indulgent foods, he made a drastic shift to plant-based eating. In a 2016 interview with Politico, he credited this change with saving his life, saying, “I might not be around if I hadn’t become a vegan. It’s great.”

Since leaving the White House in 2001, Clinton has remained active in various initiatives.

He established the Clinton Foundation, which has worked on numerous projects, including partnering with the American Heart Association to create the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. The foundation focuses on improving public health, among other goals.

In addition to his foundation work, Clinton has stayed involved in politics. This year, he traveled across the country to support Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign.
