Former Teen Idol Announces He Has Stage 4 Cancer

A former teen idol from the 1960s, Bobby Sherman, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The wife of the famous singer and actor, Brigitte Poublon, announced the unfortunate news through Facebook on Tuesday.

“To all of Bobby Sherman’s cherished fans,” the post began. “As many of you know, Bobby has been retired for some time and is no longer able to participate in cameos, sign autographs, or make appearances.

“It is with a heavy heart that we share Bobby has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer,” Poublon revealed. “During this challenging time, we kindly ask for your understanding and respect for our privacy.”

The pop star’s wife then thanked everyone for “still remembering him.” She also shared two old photos of her husband with the words, “Your kindness means the world. Thank you for keeping Bobby in your prayers.”

Fans filled the comments section with their condolences and discussed their love for the singer. “So sorry to hear, I have been a fan for 56 years, truly love Bobby and all he has done for everyone,” said one commenter.

“All those years out in the field, your charity work for children in Africa, amazing singer and actor wonderful father, grandfather, husband and friend.”

Others mentioned how Bobby was their first crush, remembering how much he impacted their adolescence. “Had the pleasure of seeing him in San Diego when he performed,” another fan wrote. “Loved him dearly then and still do now. Will never ever forget the love I had for him til the day I die.”

Looking Back On Bobby Sherman’s Life

The teen idol began his career in the late 60s into the early 70s. Sherman’s most notable hit was the single Little Woman in 1969. He also performed into television series like Shindig! and Here Comes the Brides.

Over his music career, Sherman released a total of 107 songs and 10 albums. You may also remember some of his other popular tunes like 1970’s Easy Come, Easy Go and Hey, Mister Sun, or Julie, Do Ya Love Me.

After the 70s, he would guest star in a plethora of shows. His final acting credit was appearing in an episode of Frasier in 1997. According to the US First Responders Association, he taught CPR and first aid classes after leaving the entertainment industry.

In Sherman’s personal life, he shares two children with his first wife, Patrica Anne Carnel, as per the New York Post. His kids are Christopher Noel Sherman and Tyler Carnel Sherman. The star eventually married Poublon in 2010 in Las Vegas.
