The explosion in Newcastle was a tragic event that caused immense loss of life and left a community devastated.
On a fateful Thursday, at least 15 people died in a terrible accident that occurred in Manitoba, Canada, involving a bus and a truck. This took place near Carberry, a small town located about 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg.
The bus was transporting elderly passengers, heading to a casino in Carberry. Sadly, their journey came to a tragic halt when the bus collided with a truck at an intersection.
The force of the collision was so great that it led to significant damage, and it immediately became clear that many lives were lost. Rob Hill, the deputy police officer and commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba, confirmed that at least 15 individuals had died as a result of the collision.
In addition to those who lost their lives, ten other people were injured and were rushed to the hospital. These individuals are currently receiving medical care, and while some may recover, the accident has left a lasting impact on them and their families.
Both the drivers of the bus and the truck survived the collision, but at this point, the police have not released information on who was responsible for the crash.
The scene of the accident was one of destruction and sadness. Images from the site showed the extent of the damage, with wheelchair seats and walking frames strewn about, indicating that many of the passengers on the bus were elderly or disabled. Tarps were placed over the bodies of the deceased, marking the somber reality of the event.
In response to this tragedy, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims.
He expressed that his thoughts were with those who lost loved ones and those who are still fighting for their lives in the hospital. Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson also expressed her sympathies, acknowledging the grief that this horrific accident has caused.
While investigations continue, the community is left to mourn the loss of life and to support those affected by this devastating event.
