Bruce Willis and Emma Heming have been married for over a decade. Despite Bruce’s recent diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia, Emma is staying true to her vow to support him in sickness and in health.
Emma often reflects on happier times when Bruce was healthier. After learning about his diagnosis, she began working with dementia experts to ensure he receives the best care possible. Recently, she posted a photo on Instagram with Teepa Snow, an expert who helps families understand and manage dementia. Emma mentioned that Snow is teaching her new skills for her “dementia care toolbox.”
Although Bruce faces a severe condition, he continues to be a hero to his family. Emma discovered Instagram’s memories feature, which showed her a post she made a year ago praising Bruce. She shared the video again with the caption, “What’s this new Memory thingy on IG!? Omg, my biggest fan. I’m in love with him.” The video highlights Bruce’s enthusiasm for Emma’s skincare line, Cocobaba, reminding her of better times.
Recently, photos of Bruce in Los Angeles surfaced, showing him drinking coffee. Since his initial diagnosis of aphasia, he has maintained a low profile, making these sightings rare. The family has been very open about Bruce’s health.
His daughter, Rumer Willis, shared an update on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the support they’ve received. She explained that since Bruce’s aphasia diagnosis in spring 2022, his condition has progressed, and he now has frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
Despite the sadness, the family is thankful for having a definitive diagnosis. They appreciate the love and support from fans and continue to cherish their time with Bruce.
Behind the scenes, Bruce’s colleagues have noticed his struggles with cognitive decline. Directors and crew members have tried to accommodate him during filming.
On the set of his last film, “White Elephant,” the crew would feed him lines because he sometimes didn’t understand them. A crew member explained, “It was less of an annoyance and more like: ‘How do we not make Bruce look bad?’ Someone would give him a line and he didn’t understand what it meant. He was just being puppeted.”
