A new documentary about the iconic band Bon Jovi, called “Thank You Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story,” is coming to Hulu soon. It promises to give fans an inside look into the band’s journey, with interviews from members like Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, the former guitarist.
Despite their involvement in the documentary, it turns out Bon Jovi and Sambora haven’t talked to each other in a while. When asked about the documentary, Bon Jovi admitted they hadn’t spoken at all.
He explained that the director, Gotham Chopra, handled communication with everyone involved, including Sambora. Bon Jovi hadn’t even seen the finished documentary, so he didn’t know Sambora’s perspective.
Sambora left Bon Jovi in 2013 without much explanation, citing personal issues. This left the band in a tough spot, as he left right before a scheduled performance. Phil X stepped in to replace him and eventually became an official member of the band.
But why did Bon Jovi and Sambora drift apart? According to Bon Jovi, it’s simply because Sambora isn’t part of the band anymore. It’s been 11 years since Sambora left unexpectedly, and Bon Jovi emphasized that there’s still love between them, despite the lack of contact.
Bon Jovi also shed light on Sambora’s struggles at the time, dealing with emotional issues as a single parent and substance abuse. These challenges likely played a role in Sambora’s decision to leave the band and prioritize his well-being.
So, while it may be surprising that Bon Jovi and Sambora aren’t in touch anymore, their separation reflects the twists and turns of life.
As circumstances change, people may find themselves on different paths, but the bond forged through shared experiences remains strong.
