The body of 21-year-old Arielle Valdes from Fort Myers, Florida, was found after a five-day search that began when she went missing during a jog.
Arielle had been jogging in her neighborhood on Wednesday when she disappeared, which led to a massive search effort.
The search involved various methods, including marine vessels, aviation units, drones, K9 units, and forensic experts using advanced DNA tools. Authorities found her body near the Caloosahatchee River on Monday, ending the search with a heartbreaking discovery.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that no signs of foul play were found initially. The case will continue to be investigated, and the Medical Examiner’s Office will work closely with the Major Crimes Unit to determine the exact cause of her death. The Sheriff’s Office expressed their sympathy to Arielle’s family and friends, recognizing the difficult time they are going through.
Arielle’s family, heartbroken by the loss, posted a message on the “Finding Arielle Valdes” Facebook page. They described her as a vibrant young woman with a gentle soul who brought light to everyone around her.
They expressed their deep sorrow and said that Arielle’s memory will be cherished forever by those who knew her. The family also thanked everyone who participated in the search efforts, whether they searched on foot, by boat, or with drones. Their support gave the family strength during this difficult time.
Arielle’s sister, Isabella Hergert, also shared a tribute to her, calling her sister “too good for this world.” She expressed her deep love for Arielle, saying that she would always look for a piece of her soul in every lifetime.
