There was a woman named Lily who was very excited about starting a new jigsaw puzzle.
However, after spreading out all the pieces on her dining table, she quickly became frustrated because she couldn’t make any sense of them. Feeling overwhelmed, she decided to call her boyfriend, Tom, for help.
“Tom, could you please come over and help me? I have this very challenging jigsaw puzzle, and I can’t figure out how to get started,” Lily pleaded over the phone.
Tom, always eager to help, asked her, “What is the puzzle supposed to look like when it’s done?”
Lily replied, “According to the picture on the box, it’s supposed to be a rooster.”
Curious, Tom agreed to come over and see what he could do. When he arrived at Lily’s house, he found her sitting at the table surrounded by a sea of tiny pieces. Tom took a close look at the pieces spread out before him and then at the puzzle box.
After a moment, he realized something strange. With a gentle smile, he turned to Lily and said, “First of all, no matter how much we try, these pieces won’t come together to form a rooster.”
Lily looked at him with confusion. “Why not?” she asked.
Tom chuckled softly and continued, “Well, let’s not worry too much about it right now. How about we take a break, have a nice cup of tea, and then we can put all these Corn Flakes back in the box?”
Lily was taken aback and then burst into laughter. She looked at the pieces on the table again and realized that Tom was right. Somehow, she had mistaken a box of Corn Flakes for a jigsaw puzzle.
Feeling a mix of embarrassment and amusement, Lily helped Tom scoop the cereal back into the box. As they sipped their tea, they both laughed at the silly mistake, enjoying the moment together.
Afterward, Tom suggested, “Next time, let’s make sure we pick up a real jigsaw puzzle from the store.”
Lily agreed with a smile. “That sounds like a good plan. Thanks for being so understanding.”
Tom grinned. “Anytime. Just call me whenever you need help with anything, even if it’s just a box of cereal.”
