Caleb Graves, a beloved TikTok personality, tragically passed away after completing the Disney Halloween Half Marathon Weekend. Leading up to the event, Graves shared his excitement and concerns on social media, especially on TikTok.
On September 6, just days before the race, he posted about his preparations, expressing his eagerness to participate. He had visited the race expo to pick up his bib and buy some merchandise, encouraging his followers to stay safe during the run. He warned that the weather would be extremely hot, urging everyone to stay hydrated and listen to their bodies.
However, in his last TikTok post before the race, Caleb shared a troubling experience. He filmed himself lying down and explained that he had experienced heat exhaustion after a short walk with his dog.
He mentioned that he had passed out due to the extreme heat, something he hadn’t anticipated. Despite his concern, he remained hopeful and even joked about completing the half marathon. He noted that the early start time might help him manage the heat, although he seemed slightly worried.
Unfortunately, despite his optimism, Graves’ worst fears came true. He completed the half marathon, which started at 5 AM, and crossed the finish line around 7 AM. According to a statement from Anaheim Police Sergeant Matt Sutter, as soon as Graves crossed the line, he started clutching his chest. A worker nearby noticed something was wrong and ran to help him before he collapsed.
Emergency personnel were already on the scene and responded quickly. Despite immediate medical attention and life-saving measures, Graves went into cardiac arrest. He was rushed to the hospital, where medical teams worked on him for over an hour, but sadly, he was pronounced dead.
Sergeant Sutter mentioned that no other medical emergencies occurred during the race, though Southern California had been experiencing extreme heat for several days, which likely contributed to Caleb’s collapse. This heatwave had even led to a wildfire in the area. An excessive heat warning had been in place for the region and was scheduled to end on September 10.
The news of Caleb Graves’ death has left his followers and the wider online community in shock and mourning, as they remember him for his positivity and enthusiasm.
