Barron Trump is starting a new chapter in his life as he moves to New York City for college. After leaving the White House with his parents, Donald and Melania Trump, in 2021, the family first settled in Palm Beach, Florida.
Barron recently graduated from Oxbridge Academy in May and is now attending Stern Business School at New York University (NYU). Although he has mostly stayed out of the spotlight, he has recently become a topic of conversation among students and political commentators.
One of the biggest controversies surrounding Barron at NYU came from an article published in Vanity Fair. In it, Kaya Walker, a former president of NYU’s College Republican club, referred to Barron as an “oddity” on campus.
Her comment caused a backlash, forcing her to resign from her position. The term was seen by some as insulting, while others believed she simply meant that Barron was a unique presence at the university due to his family’s political background.
Walker later clarified her remarks, explaining that her words had been misunderstood. She also mentioned that Barron was often treated like a “zoo animal,” constantly watched and talked about by students.
She expressed regret for any offense caused, insisting that she had no negative intentions toward Barron.
Despite the controversy, Barron’s transition to college life has drawn a lot of attention. Many students have shared different opinions about him. Some believe he might adopt more liberal views if he wants to fit in socially at NYU, which has a reputation for being politically progressive.
Others have pointed out his good looks, calling him popular among his peers. According to People Magazine, some students even consider him a “ladies’ man.”
Donald Trump has expressed pride in his son’s decision to attend NYU instead of Pennsylvania University’s Wharton School, where Trump himself studied. He described NYU as a “very high-quality place” and said Barron liked the school.
As the son of a former president, Barron is always accompanied by Secret Service agents, who ensure his safety as he moves around campus. This level of security further sets him apart from other students, adding to the curiosity surrounding him.
Barron has also played a role in his father’s political activities. During Trump’s election campaigns, he helped his father connect with younger voters through social media and digital platforms.
Melania Trump has praised Barron’s understanding of technology, saying, “He knows his generation… they’re on tablets… phones,” and credited him with helping Trump’s team reach Gen Z voters.
The controversy surrounding Walker’s comments has also drawn reactions from the College Republicans. The national organization distanced itself from her remarks, stating that they welcome Barron as a potential member.
The group’s president, Will Donahue, praised Barron’s leadership qualities and suggested that he could have a bright future in the conservative movement if he chooses to get involved.
While some believe the incident was blown out of proportion, it has once again put Barron Trump in the public eye. Many people are curious about how he will navigate college life, whether he will become more politically active, and what role he might play in the future.
For now, Barron remains relatively quiet, focusing on his studies and adjusting to life at NYU. However, given his background and family name, it’s likely that he will continue to attract attention in the coming years.
