Barack Obama, the former US President, and his wife Michelle have two daughters, Malia and Sasha.
However, when Sasha was just three months old, she got very sick with meningitis, a serious illness that shook their family. Barack revealed this during a campaign trail in 2012.
Michelle remembers the terrifying experience vividly. One moment Sasha was happy and normal, and the next, she was crying inconsolably.
Michelle tried everything to soothe her but eventually had to call the pediatrician. The doctors immediately sent them to the emergency room, where Sasha had to undergo a spinal tap to diagnose meningitis.
Michelle emphasized how lucky they were to have access to medical care and insurance. She knew that without it, the outcome could have been much worse. If they had waited, Sasha’s health could have been in jeopardy.
Thankfully, Sasha recovered fully and is now a healthy and beautiful young lady. Both Sasha and her older sister, Malia, are doing well in Los Angeles, making their parents proud.
