A tragic accident took the lives of seven members of a beloved gospel music family, the Nelons, on their way to a concert.
The family was traveling to Alaska for the Gaither Homecoming Cruise when their plane crashed in Wyoming. Sadly, no one on board survived the crash except for one family member, Autumn Nelon Streetman.
The people who lost their lives in this terrible incident included Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, their daughter Amber, their son-in-law Nathan Kistler, a family worker named Melanie Hodges, as well as the plane’s pilot Larry Haynie and his wife Melissa.
Witnesses said they saw the plane go down in flames before hitting the ground, which led to a swift response from emergency services. However, despite the efforts made, there were no survivors.
Autumn Nelon Streetman, the only surviving member of the family, later shared a public statement expressing her deep sorrow over the loss of her loved ones.
She also took a moment to thank everyone who had sent their prayers and support during this difficult time, showing a mix of grief and appreciation for the comfort that others had offered her.
The Nelons were a well-known and loved family in the world of gospel music. In fact, they were inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2016, a recognition of the huge impact they made on the gospel music scene.
Over the years, they released many popular songs, including “I Shall Not Be Moved,” “Come Morning,” and “We Shall Wear a Robe and Crown.” Their music had touched the hearts of many, and they had earned a special place in the lives of gospel music fans around the world.
Following the crash, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced that it would be investigating the cause of the accident to find out what led to the tragic event.
Fans of the Nelons, along with their friends and family, are left mourning the loss of a family that brought so much joy and faith to people through their music.
