When we moved into our new rental home, we learned that there was a small basement flat underneath us. A quiet woman lived there, and we barely saw her. She didn’t talk much, and honestly, we almost forgot she was there.
One day, she asked if she could put a small deep freezer in our garage. Since we were only using the garage for storage, we didn’t see any problem with it. We agreed, thinking it was just a simple request. Little did we know, that tiny freezer would cause more drama than we could have ever imagined.
A few weeks later, something strange happened. The freezer stopped working. We had no idea why. We barely entered the garage, so it wasn’t like we had unplugged it. But when our neighbor found out, she was furious.
She stormed up to our door, demanding that we pay for a new freezer. Her face was red with anger. We tried to explain that we had nothing to do with it. The landlord even backed us up, saying that it wasn’t our responsibility.
But she didn’t care. She was convinced that we had deliberately unplugged it just to make her life difficult.

At first, we thought she was just being dramatic. But then, something even weirder happened. One night, I went to the garage to grab something from our storage boxes.
As I walked past the broken freezer, I noticed a horrible smell. It was so strong that I almost gagged. My heart started racing. What exactly had she been keeping in there?
Curiosity got the best of me. I hesitated for a moment, then carefully lifted the freezer lid. A wave of rotten air hit me, and I nearly jumped back. Inside, wrapped in plastic bags, were… raw meat? Rotten fish? I wasn’t sure, but whatever it was, it had been sitting there for days, possibly weeks.
The next morning, I told my partner about it. We were both creeped out. Why would someone store something like that in a garage freezer? And why was she so desperate to get another one?
That’s when we started wondering—what if it wasn’t just food?
After that, we kept our distance. We saw her even less than before, but every time we did, she gave us a cold, knowing stare.
To this day, I still wonder what was really in that freezer… and I’m not sure I want to know.
