A Man And His Wife Are Discussing What They Believe Their Son Will Be When He Grows Up

A man and his wife are talking about what they think their son will become when he grows up. The father has an idea for a test. He places a ten-dollar bill, a bottle of whiskey, and a Bible on the coffee table.

He tells his wife, “If he takes the money, he’ll be a banker. If he takes the whiskey, he’ll be a drunk. And if he takes the Bible, he’ll be a preacher.”

They decide to hide and watch what their son does when he comes home. The boy walks in, sees the items on the table, and starts inspecting them.

He picks up the ten-dollar bill, looks at it for a moment, and then sets it back down.

Next, he picks up the bottle of whiskey, uncorks it, sniffs it, and then puts it back on the table. Finally, he picks up the Bible, flips through it for a bit, and then puts it back down as well.

But then, the boy surprises his parents. He takes the money and stuffs it in his pocket, grabs the bottle of whiskey, and walks away with the Bible under his arm. The father, astonished, exclaims, “Well, how do you like that! He’s going to be a politician!”
