My Husband Brought Home a Woman and Claimed She’d Be His Second Wife – To His Shock, I Agreed but Set One Rule

Jack and I had been married for eight years, and I always believed we had a strong, stable marriage. But a few months ago, he started acting strangely.

At first, it was subtle—random comments about “alternative lifestyles” and how some people were embracing different ways of living.

I didn’t think much of it. Jack had always been the type to get obsessed with new ideas. One time, he was convinced he wanted to start woodworking. Another time, he wanted to open a food truck. None of his interests ever lasted, so I figured this was just another phase.

But then, his comments became more direct. He started talking about how much work I did around the house and how it would be nice if I had help. At first, I thought he meant hiring a cleaning service. But the way he kept bringing it up made me feel uneasy.

Then, there was the phone. Jack was always on it, smiling, chuckling to himself, and being secretive. When I asked what was so funny, he just said he was watching videos. But something felt off. My gut told me something was wrong.

Then, one evening, he came home acting happier than usual. But he wasn’t alone. A young woman, Claire, stood beside him, looking uncomfortable. I greeted her, confused, but Jack wasted no time explaining.

“Amelia, this is Claire,” he said cheerfully. “She’s going to be my second wife.”

I laughed, thinking it was a joke. But Jack was completely serious. He went on about how having Claire around would make life easier—she could help with housework, cooking, and other “duties.” And, according to him, it was better than having a mistress.

I stared at him, stunned. He actually thought he was doing me a favor. Claire, on the other hand, looked like she wanted to disappear. That’s when an idea came to me.

With a sweet smile, I said, “Alright, you can have a second wife. But I have one rule.”

Jack’s face lit up. “Of course! Anything!”

I leaned in. “She can’t approach my second husband. Deal?”

His jaw dropped. “S-second husband?”

“Yep,” I said, still smiling. “Think about it, Jack. Two incomes. Someone to take me out when you’re busy. A man who actually buys me flowers. Sounds fair, right?”

Jack stammered, his face turning red. “That’s not how it works!”

“Oh, but YOU can have a second wife? Interesting logic, Jack.”

Claire, meanwhile, looked horrified. She clearly wanted no part of this mess.

Jack tried to argue, but he had nothing. Eventually, he turned to Claire and muttered, “Go home. We’ll figure this out later.” Claire wasted no time leaving.

That night, Jack begged me to forget everything. “Let’s talk like adults,” he pleaded.

“We ARE talking,” I said. “And I’ve made my position clear. You get a second wife, I get a second husband. Fair’s fair.”

By morning, his tune had changed. “I’ve been thinking,” he said, avoiding my gaze. “Maybe this wasn’t such a great idea.”

“Maybe?” I raised an eyebrow.

“Fine. It was a terrible idea. Let’s just forget it, okay?”

Forget? Oh no, Jack. It wasn’t that easy.

“I already set up a dating profile for my second husband,” I said, smirking. “And guess what? Dozens of men seem way more interested than I expected.”

Jack’s face turned pale. “What do you mean?”

“I mean, I’m done. It’s over, Jack.”

The next day, I packed my bags and left. Jack flooded my phone with calls and messages, begging for another chance. But I never responded. Soon after, I filed for divorce.

And from what I heard? Even Claire stopped answering his calls. Guess he should have thought twice before trying to change the rules of our marriage.
