The article also mentions tensions between Pelosi and Vice President Kamala Harris. After the recent election, Pelosi seemed to shift her stance on Harris, criticizing her as a weak candidate despite having supported her during the campaign.
Pelosi suggested that President Joe Biden’s immediate endorsement of Harris after withdrawing from the race prevented an open primary process. Pelosi claimed that, had Biden stepped aside earlier, other candidates might have entered the race, potentially offering stronger options for the Democratic Party.
However, Pelosi’s comments on this matter appear inconsistent. In a previous interview in September, she stated there was an open primary and that Harris simply outperformed others.
She praised Harris for taking quick action and gaining the nomination. Despite this earlier statement, Pelosi’s recent remarks imply dissatisfaction with how the nomination process played out.
Devine portrays Pelosi as a key figure in the Democrats’ political struggles, criticizing her decisions and questioning her continued role in leadership.
