Rosalynn Carter made big Melania Trump decision before her death

Rosalynn Carter, the former First Lady of the United States, was widely respected for her contributions to humanitarian causes and her dedication to public service.

Alongside her husband, former President Jimmy Carter, she spent many years working to improve the lives of others. After leaving the White House, the Carters became heavily involved with Habitat for Humanity, an organization that helps build and renovate homes for those in need.

Together, they contributed to renovating around 4,300 houses in 14 different countries, showcasing their deep commitment to helping people worldwide.

Before her time in Washington, Rosalynn was often perceived as quiet and reserved. However, once she became First Lady in 1977, she quickly evolved into a powerful advocate and speaker, focusing on issues such as mental health, caregiving, and women’s rights.

Her strong influence, loyalty, and compassion earned her the nickname “the Steel Magnolia.” Rosalynn was known for her strength of character and even played a significant role in decision-making within the White House. At times, White House staffers would seek her approval on various initiatives before presenting them to President Carter, which highlighted her importance and the trust others placed in her judgment.

Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter were married for an incredible 77 years, making them the oldest living presidential couple in U.S. history. Unfortunately, Rosalynn passed away on November 19, just two days after entering hospice care. In her final moments, Jimmy, who had also been in hospice care, had his bed moved next to hers so they could be together.

Their son, James E. “Chip” Carter III, shared that his father expressed his love and gratitude to Rosalynn during her final hours, thanking her for all she had done throughout their long life together. Jimmy then asked for privacy to be alone with her during her last moments.

Although Rosalynn lost the ability to speak on the morning of her final day, her presence and legacy remained strong. Her kindness and grace were evident in the decisions she made before her death. One such decision was Rosalynn’s insistence that former First Lady Melania Trump be invited to her funeral.

Despite the fact that her husband, Jimmy, did not agree with many of the political actions of Melania’s husband, Donald Trump, Rosalynn believed in treating everyone with respect. Her son, Chip, confirmed that she was involved in the decision and emphasized that Rosalynn’s gracious nature extended to everyone, including former First Ladies.

Donald Trump later confirmed that both he and Melania would attend Rosalynn’s funeral, further illustrating her generous and inclusive spirit. Even in her final days, Rosalynn Carter exemplified grace, compassion, and a deep sense of humanity.
