Linda Kosuda-Bigazzi, a 76-year-old woman from Connecticut, was found dead at her home just hours before she was supposed to be sentenced for killing her husband, Dr.
Pierluigi Bigazzi. Linda ended her life on the morning of July 24, 2024, by ingesting ethylene glycol, a toxic substance commonly found in antifreeze and other household products.
This tragic event occurred on the day she was scheduled to face sentencing in court at 2 p.m. for the manslaughter of her husband. The Connecticut State Police were called to Linda’s home around 10:37 a.m. after someone reported being unable to reach her.
Despite their efforts to make contact, the police had to enter the house with the help of the local fire department. Inside, they found Linda unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The situation leading up to this tragic day began in February 2018, when the body of Dr. Pierluigi Bigazzi was discovered in the basement of their home.
Dr. Bigazzi, who was 84 years old at the time of his death, had been missing for several months. He was an employee at the University of Connecticut, and his employer had requested a welfare check when they hadn’t heard from him for a long time. When the police investigated, they found out that his paychecks were still being deposited into the couple’s joint account even after his death, which they believed occurred sometime in July 2017.
Linda was arrested and charged with first-degree manslaughter and first-degree theft. She pleaded guilty to the charges in March 2024. Her guilty plea and the details surrounding her husband’s death raised many questions, but the full reasons behind the crime remain unclear.
Linda’s decision to end her life on the very day of her sentencing added another layer of tragedy to an already heartbreaking situation. The case shocked the local community and highlighted the severe consequences of untreated issues, leading to such a devastating outcome for both Linda and her husband.
