Lorena Rojas, a well-known Mexican actress famous for her roles in many telenovelas, passed away on Monday at her home in Miami due to cancer. She was 44 years old. Her death was confirmed by her talent management agency, Latin WE, to The Associated Press.
Rojas was born in Mexico City and started her acting career in 1990 with the telenovela Alcanzar Una Estrella, produced by Televisa. She continued her role in the sequel, Alcanzar Una Estrella II, the following year. Between 1992 and 1997, she starred in several other Televisa productions, including Buscando El Paraiso, Bajo Un Mismo Rostro, and El Alma No Tiene Color.
In 1998, Rojas moved to TV Azteca, where she starred in Azul Tequila alongside Mauricio Ochmann. The pair later co-starred again in 2001’s Como En El Cine. In addition to acting, Rojas was also a singer-songwriter. She released her debut album, Como Yo No Hay Ninguna, in 2001. In 2005, she starred in the telenovela El Cuerpo Del Deseo on Telemundo, working with actors like Andrés García, Mario Cimarro, Erick Elías, and Sonia Noemí. The following year, she released her second album, Deseo.
Rojas had been battling cancer since 2008. Despite her illness, she remained active in her career and continued to connect with her fans. Just a week before her death, she celebrated her 44th birthday and expressed her gratitude on Twitter, saying, “Thank you all for celebrating my birthday with me. Beautiful day.” Her fight with cancer lasted several years, but she maintained a positive outlook and stayed involved in her work and music throughout her treatment.
