Daniel Allen, a 16-year-old model, made a bold statement at his prom in Nottingham, UK. He rocked up in full drag, wearing pink from head to toe, including a stunning wig, a flowery jumpsuit, and high heels.
Daniel felt empowered as soon as he stepped out of the car. People were surprised but supportive, even a grandma cheered him on.
But life wasn’t always easy for Daniel. He came out at 13 and started wearing makeup, facing bullying from classmates who told him awful things.
Despite the hate, Daniel wanted to show that he wouldn’t change who he is. He finished school and dreams of becoming a hairdresser and putting on his own drag show.
His family, including his mom, have always supported him. She’s been behind him since he was two, playing dress-up.
But she’s worried about the rise in hate crimes and wants a world where everyone can express themselves freely.
Daniel’s bold move at prom was his way of standing up to bullies and inspiring others to be themselves.
