Representative Ilhan Omar, a Democrat, recently talked about Tara Reade’s claim that Joe Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993.
Even though Omar believes Reade, she says she’ll still support Biden to stop Trump from winning again.
Omar explained her thoughts to the Sunday Times, saying, “Justice might take time, but it shouldn’t be ignored.”
Biden denies Reade’s claims but says it’s important to believe survivors. He even said in an interview that if people believe Reade, they shouldn’t vote for him.
On Twitter, Omar said she’s committed to supporting survivors and will vote for Biden to challenge Trump.
But Reade’s credibility is in question. Her lawyer, Douglas Wigdor, who has represented victims of people like Harvey Weinstein, stopped representing her.
In 2018, Reade said working with Biden’s staff was important because she helped secure a life sentence for a client.
While this might show Reade in a good light, it’s important to think about everything when considering her allegations against Biden.
We should be careful and open-minded when looking at these allegations, considering all the information.
The upcoming election is important, and people like Representative Ilhan Omar are trying to balance supporting a candidate while taking serious allegations seriously.
