Ellen, a loving grandmother, was excited to babysit her grandkids for a weekend while her son and daughter-in-law visited Linda’s ill mother. However, Linda handed Ellen a list of strict rules that made her feel disrespected and humiliated.
Ellen decided to confront her son, Michael, about the rules, and he was shocked to hear about them. He even offered to stay home with the kids instead of going with Linda if she didn’t apologize. Linda refused to apologize, so Michael stayed home with the kids, and Linda went to visit her mother alone.
Ellen felt bad about causing conflict between Michael and Linda but stood firm on her decision not to babysit under such unreasonable rules. Despite not babysitting, Ellen still prepared meals for the kids, and Michael decided to spend quality time with them at Ellen’s house.
Ellen plans to encourage Michael to talk to Linda about the incident to resolve the conflict. She wonders if she was wrong for refusing to babysit under those circumstances and if her actions made the situation worse.
