A 24-year-old woman took to Reddit to share a troubling story about her sister, aged 32, and her 38-year-old husband. Despite her sister’s demanding job, her husband contributed little to the household chores, even as she managed their four children, ages 10, 8, 5, and 3, while pregnant with their fifth child.
The woman was shocked to witness her sister waking up at 4 a.m., managing breakfast, chores, and getting the kids ready for school, while her husband stayed home, played video games, and worked remotely. Interestingly, her sister earned more than her husband.
During a six-week stay at her sister’s house due to their home renovations, the woman and her 26-year-old fiancé assisted with household tasks, providing much-needed relief for her sister. They even drove her to doctor’s appointments. In contrast, the husband only played the role of a dedicated father when his family was around, painting himself as hardworking and religious.
Despite her sister’s desire to stop having children, her husband insisted on having more boys, causing concern for the welfare of her children, especially as the oldest child began recognizing the situation and tried to help. However, the sister refused to let her child take on any responsibilities out of pride.
The woman had never gotten along with her brother-in-law, and his behavior had persisted for years. Despite discussions about leaving, her sister feared her children growing up in a broken home, reluctant to consider divorce due to her belief in the importance of having both parents together.
During a pre-Thanksgiving potluck hosted by her sister and brother-in-law, tensions came to a head when the woman confronted her brother-in-law for his lack of support, leaving him visibly uncomfortable. Despite her sister’s gratitude, the brother-in-law accused her of causing family strife, believing she was at fault for his family’s reaction.
