Melissa Gilbert, known for her role as Laura Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie, has left Hollywood behind for a simpler life in the Catskills. Born in 1964 in Los Angeles, Melissa was adopted by actor Paul Gilbert and actress Barbara Crane.
In 2015, Melissa starred in a short film called One Smart Fellow and appeared in TV shows like Secret and Lies and The Night Shift. She also wrote an autobiography, Prairie Tale: A Memoir, which talks about her time during Little House on the Prairie.
Melissa and her husband, Timothy Busfield, moved from Michigan to New York a few years ago. They bought a hunting cabin, planning to live a farm life with chickens, goats, and horses. However, the pandemic delayed their plans.
Despite the challenges, they now live in the cabin and have renovated it completely. They got rid of old stuff left by previous owners, dealt with rodents and mold, and fixed plumbing issues. They installed red vinyl chairs and heat the house with a wood fire.
Melissa and Timothy grow their own fruits and vegetables. Melissa enjoys the peacefulness of their home and embraces the challenges it brings. She handles her responsibilities with a smile and ends her day with a cup of tea.
Their life might be different from Hollywood, but Melissa finds joy and contentment in their cozy cottage in the Catskills.
