Earlier in the week, the cast of “Friends” released a joint statement exclusively through People magazine. Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer, who had shared the screen with Perry for years, expressed their profound grief. In their statement, they emphasized their deep connection, describing themselves not just as castmates but as a family. They acknowledged that the loss was unfathomable and requested time to grieve and process their emotions. They promised to share more in the future as they were able, and sent their thoughts and love to Perry’s family, friends, and fans around the world.
The circumstances surrounding Matthew Perry’s untimely death remained under investigation by the LAPD and the LA County Medical Examiner. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office had conducted an initial autopsy, but the cause of death was deferred pending toxicology results and further examination. The office had not yet disclosed the manner of Perry’s death.
Matthew Perry’s passing at the age of 54 was initially linked to reports of drowning in his Los Angeles home on October 28. The LA County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Perry was found unconscious in a stand-alone hot tub. Despite the efforts of a bystander who had brought his head above the water and firefighters who removed him from the hot tub, Perry had sadly passed away before paramedics arrived on the scene.
