Renowned rock icon Steven Tyler is set to take a temporary hiatus from performing after sustaining significant injuries during a recent Aerosmith event. The incident occurred during a performance in Long Island, where Tyler, the lead vocalist, experienced a severe vocal cord injury.
Tyler’s crew stated the incident, indicating that he had injured himself while singing at the event. Following the performance, Tyler immediately sought medical attention in Boston, visiting his Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) physician. The ENT physician conducted an X-ray of Tyler’s vocal cords, revealing the extent of the damage, which was described as “mangled” by TMZ.
It is believed that Tyler’s vocal cord injury occurred early in his performance, but the consummate performer managed to power through and complete the set. Remarkably, he concealed his discomfort so effectively that the audience remained unaware of his struggle.
As a result of the injury, Tyler is presently unable to speak, and only “squeaks” are audible. His ENT physician has prescribed a strict regimen of vocal rest, insisting that Tyler refrain from singing for a minimum of 30 days to allow his vocal cords to heal.
In a message addressing his fans, Tyler expressed his deep disappointment, stating, “I’m heartbroken to say I have received severe doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days. During the performance on Saturday, I damaged my vocal cords, leading to further hemorrhage.” He also announced that a few upcoming performances would need to be postponed, with the hope of returning to provide the fans with the show they deserve.
While the specifics of the injury remain limited, a source familiar with the situation informed TMZ that Steven Tyler is known for his unyielding determination. The source’s statement, “Steven is an animal. He cannot be stopped,” suggests that Tyler’s tenacity may drive him to come back even stronger after taking the necessary time to care for himself. Tyler’s dedicated fan base eagerly awaits his return to the stage once he has made a full recovery.
