Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, have faced a tumultuous start to the year, largely due to revelations made by Prince Harry in his book, “Spare.” Amidst these revelations, it became apparent that Prince George and Princess Charlotte have unique ways of addressing their father, Prince William.
Prince William, being second in line to the throne, shoulders immense responsibility. He and Kate have worked diligently to maintain their royal duties with integrity and dignity, avoiding scandals that have plagued other members of the royal family. However, Harry and Meghan’s exit from the royal family, coupled with their explosive Oprah interview and Netflix series, created a strain. Harry’s book, “Spare,” further intensified the situation by exposing sensitive details about his family.
Harry’s book delved into his relationship with Prince William and even mentioned Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, which raised eyebrows. The book revealed Harry’s concerns about his niece and nephew’s future within the royal family, labeling them as “spares,” akin to his own role.
Prince George’s mention in the book drew criticism from royal experts, as Harry disclosed that he hadn’t been invited to spend time with him after his birth. Furthermore, he revealed that Princess Charlotte had cried at Meghan’s wedding, which some deemed an invasion of her privacy.
Harry continued to discuss William and Kate’s children in an interview, expressing his concern for them potentially ending up like him. Despite William’s assurance that they are his responsibility, Harry shared his worries.
William and Kate have strived to give their children as normal a childhood as possible, drawing inspiration from Kate’s own upbringing. They aim to be not just parents but also friends to their children.
While titles and regal duties are part of their lives, the royal children, including Prince George and Princess Charlotte, have affectionate nicknames for each other, reflecting their unique upbringing. Prince George, in particular, had special names for Queen Elizabeth (“Gan-Gan”), Prince Charles (“Grandpa Wales”), and even Prince William (“Pops”).
Recently, Prince William acquired a new nickname, “Poachy,” after a playful radio conversation with Ainsley Harriott about cooking fish in the bathtub, which amused George and Charlotte.
