The hunter thought he had simply taken a wrong turn in the forest. He had no idea that someone had been waiting for him there for three years.
He entered the woods early that morning, hoping to catch something for dinner and return home before dark. But after following fresh tracks between the trees, he suddenly realized he no longer recognized the forest around him. There was no road, no familiar landmark, and every attempt to turn back only seemed to lead him in circles.
As darkness approached, he spotted smoke rising through the trees. Hidden among old firs was a lonely wooden cabin.
Before he could knock, the door opened. A young woman wearing a colorful headscarf stood there with a bucket of water. She looked at him strangely.
“You finally came,” she whispered. “We have been waiting for you for three years.”
Before he could ask what she meant, a heavy blow struck his head.
When he woke, his hands and legs were tied. His rifle was across the room, and three women stood watching him—the young woman, a red-haired woman with a long braid, and a blonde woman with a cold smile.
“You didn’t get lost by accident,” the blonde woman told him.
The women explained that they had lived deep in the wilderness for years, hoping to build an isolated community of their own.
They had chosen him because of his knowledge of the forest, his survival skills, and his weapon.
But by the time the hunter understood why they had been waiting, the escape route had already disappeared into the darkness.
